Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Hitting the Let’s Talk button allows you to write a message or call to schedule an initial consultation.

After consultation, you’ll be sent a link via email to create a profile and complete electronic consent and background information forms. Our first session cannot take place until all forms are completed.

There you may also choose to receive text and email reminders.

  • Sessions are held virtually through the Simple Practice website or app. If you miss a session or do not cancel within 24 hours of the appointment, you may be charged your session fee. Clients must be in Maryland at the time of their sessions.

The first session is between 60 and 90 minutes and focus on the following:

    • Explore what brings you to therapy, your strengths, and what values are important to you.

    • Talk about what you’d like to change, what motivates you, and how you’ll know therapy has been successful.

    • Talk about the desired frequency and duration of sessions.

In the next few sessions, we’ll developed goals to direct our work together, and we’ll review them on an ongoing basis to make sure we’re on the right track.

  • Yes!

I currently accept Maryland Optum Health (Medicaid), CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Aetna.

Please know that if you are using insurance to pay for services, I will need to provide them with information including a diagnosis.

  • For all other insurance carriers, services with me would be considered out-of-pocket. I can provide documentation that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. I recommend you call your insurance company and ask the following:

    • Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?

    • Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?

    • Does my plan limit how many sessions per the calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?

    • Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?

    • What is the process for submitting a superbill?

    Out of Pocket Fees

    • $200 for the initial assessment

    • $125-$150 for individual sessions

    • $175 for couples sessions

    • $100-$175 for supervision

  • In 2021, The Consolidated Appropriations Act established requirements to protect people from surprise medical bills. These “No Surprises” rules include transparency around healthcare costs. If you’re paying out of pocket, you’ll be sent a Good Faith Estimate for services outlining the fees for services I provide.

If you need support disputing a bill, you may contact the Maryland Consumer Protection Division’s Health Education and Advocacy Unit at 410-528-1840 or 1-877-261-8807 (toll free) for more information about your rights under Maryland state laws. For federal law, see the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
